And Eyewitness News ABC7 New York was there!
On January 15, 2026, The Loyalty Foundation, in partnership with Bronx Community Justice Center (a program of the Center for Justice Innovation), distributed 50 free refurbished Chromebooks to local students who do not have access to a computer at home.
The distribution was part of The Loyalty Foundation’s ongoing Devices4All® initiative to close the digital divide by ensuring students have the tools they need to learn, connect, and pursue their goals both in and out of the classroom.
Community Leadership and Collaboration
The event was coordinated by Bronx Community Justice Center staff including Deymis Baquero, Project Director; Edison Julio, High School Equivalency Instructor; and Julie Taylor, Director of Community Impact and Youth Initiatives. Baquero and Julio can be seen in the video included on this page, speaking about the impact of reliable access to technology on the young people they serve.
Loyalty Foundation staff present included David Neeman, Founder & Chairman, and Andy Reynolds, Director of Public Relations & Grants.
Preparing Students for Education and Opportunity
As part of the distribution, students completed a brief survey designed to capture baseline access to technology and to better understand how having a personal computer is expected to support their education and future goals. In six months, they'll answer a follow-up survey to see how they've beneffited from having a laptop of their own. This feedback helps inform The Loyalty Foundation’s work and ensures programs remain responsive to the real needs of partner communities.
Students, like Davine, shared how having their own Chromebook will allow them to study independently and pursue personal interests, including writing and music creation—without having to rely on shared or borrowed computers.
Prior to receiving their Chromebooks, students were provided with sandwiches and sodas and received Bronx Community Justice Center–branded swag, including a laptop bag (containing the charger) and a reusable water bottle—underscoring the care and hospitality that define BCBJC’s approach to youth engagement.
Edison Julio emphasized the critical role the laptops play in supporting members’ academic advancement, particularly for students preparing to take their GED exams online and for collaborative research projects that require consistent computer access.
As part of the distribution, students completed a short survey to help capture baseline access to technology and better understand how a personal device can support learning and long-term goals.
Before receiving their Chromebooks, students were welcomed with food and received Bronx Community Justice Center–branded swag, including a laptop bag with charger and a reusable water bottle.
Media Coverage and Facility Tour
The distribution was covered by ABC7 New York' Sonia Rincón, whose team was also given a tour of the Bronx Community Justice Center’s ever-expanding facilities. Highlights included a woodworking shop, a fashion design lab equipped with sewing machines, and a press room where students design and silk-screen their own merchandise—spaces that reflect the Center’s holistic approach to youth development, creativity, and workforce readiness.

A Word of Thanks
Following the event, Project Director Deymis Baquero shared the following message:
“It was great having you at the BXCJC joining us for the distribution and witnessing the impact that your donation has had on our youth and the continued contribution you will make every time they use the laptops to advance their goals. It was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. My greatest appreciation. Looking forward to finding more ways to collaborate and provide tech accessibility to our youth and community.”
The Loyalty Foundation is grateful to the Bronx Community Justice Center team for their partnership and shared commitment to expanding access to technology for youth and families in the Bronx.
