On December 18, 2025, The Loyalty Foundation partnered with the Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) to deliver refurbished Chromebooks to youth and families at Davis Commons, an affordable-housing community in Brockton, Massachusetts.

The distribution was initiated, coordinated, and executed by Kevin English, a BUSSW master’s student in social work, whose on-the-ground work and advocacy made the event possible.

Kevin identified the need for reliable at-home technology among residents—many of whom are growing up in low-income households—and worked closely with Elizabeth Streat, Director of Operations at The Loyalty Foundation, to align the effort with the Foundation’s Devices4All® mission: providing laptops directly to elementary- through high-school-aged students to support learning beyond the classroom.

In total, 50 Chromebooks were distributed during the community’s winter holiday event, reaching children and teens ages 8–18. Each device was presented to a student to take home, with guidance on setup and use—ensuring access to schoolwork, digital resources, and opportunities for skill-building.

“These Chromebooks will allow residents the opportunity to get connected to a variety of learning opportunities and resources,” said Elise D. Eckelkamp, MSW, MEd., Kevin’s advisor at BUSSW. “By giving more residents access to Chromebooks, they can better engage with employers, schools, community partners, and community resources. We’ll also be inviting recipients back to the community center for hands-on learning so they feel confident using this valuable tool.”

Elizabeth Streat added, “This partnership reflects our exact purpose and ethos—providing students with the tools they need to learn and thrive. We’re grateful Kevin found us and that our supporters made it possible to respond to this need.”

Families received the Chromebooks with joy and gratitude, underscoring how meaningful access to technology can be—especially during the holiday season. The Loyalty Foundation is proud to partner with emerging social work leaders and institutions like BUSSW to help close the digital divide, one student at a time.
