Building
practical
digital skills.

Providing a computer is an important first step. The Loyalty Foundation is developing practical programming that helps students use technology for learning, creativity and future opportunities.

Tech Ed:
About the Program

The Loyalty Foundation's  Tech Ed (Technology Education) program helps K–12 students in under-resourced communities develop practical digital skills and explore new opportunities through technology.

Since 2019, we have collaborated with community partners to introduce students to coding, game development, and other digital skills. Building on this experience, we are developing new educational initiatives that complement Devices4All® and help students use technology confidently, creatively, and effectively.

From 2019 through 2022, approximately 300 students participated in The Loyalty Foundation's Tech Ed classes and programs. Earlier initiatives included:

Learn2Code and Gaming4Good: Hands-on programs introducing students to coding, game development, and creative problem-solving, delivered with established community partners including the Police Athletic League of New York City.

AI & Art: An introduction to artificial intelligence for students in grades 4–9, exploring AI tools, prompt creation, practical problem-solving, and AI-generated visual art.

LF also established Open Minds, connecting approximately 150 students with mentors and professionals who shared their experiences, perspectives, and career paths.

These initiatives provide a foundation for LF's continued exploration of technology education.

Introduction to Vibe Coding

The Loyalty Foundation's newest Tech Ed program introduces high school students to web and app development through AI-assisted workflows and professional tools, including Next.js, GitHub, and Vercel.

Designed for young creators and problem-solvers, the hands-on course teaches students to design, build, and publish their own digital projects while developing skills in creative problem-solving and responsible AI use.

In the course's initial classes, students created projects ranging from a classroom supply dispenser website to an imaginative online marketplace for fictional hybrid animals.

Course Format

The eight-week course includes two one-hour classes per week, totaling 16 hours of instruction. In-person and virtual formats, as well as a train-the-trainer model for educators and partner organizations, may be arranged depending on partner needs and instructor availability.

Bring Vibe Coding to Your Students

Schools and youth-serving organizations interested in offering Introduction to Vibe Coding can contact Elizabeth Streat, The Loyalty Foundation's Director of Operations, to discuss course availability, delivery options, and partnership opportunities.

Partnership

Schools, youth-serving organizations, and technology educators are essential partners in The Loyalty Foundation's education initiatives.

We collaborate with organizations that can help identify student needs, provide instructional opportunities, and bring practical technology education to young people in their communities.

Together, we aim to develop accessible, relevant programs that prepare students to use technology creatively and confidently.
