Devices4All®
About the Program

Reliable access to a computer is essential for schoolwork, research, communication and developing the digital skills students need for the future. Yet many young people still do not have a computer of their own at home.

Through Devices4All®, The Loyalty Foundation works with schools and community-based organizations to put computers directly into the hands of K–12 students who lack reliable access to one at home.

Our community partners identify students who need devices and manage local distribution, allowing The Loyalty Foundation to reach young people through organizations that already know and serve their communities.

How Devices4All® works

1

We Fund

The Loyalty Foundation raises funds to purchase professionally refurbished Chromebooks and partners with schools and nonprofit organizations serving K-12 students.

Community partners identify students who lack reliable computer access and manage distribution within their communities.

3

We Deliver

The Loyalty Foundation coordinates Chromebook purshases and delivery to community partners, who distribute the devices to students. Surveys help us evaluate the program and impact.

What We're Learning

Devices4All® surveys Chromebook recipients to document their access to technology before receiving a device and establish a baseline for evaluating the program's impact over time.

Among 243 baseline survey respondents:

  • 80% reported that they did not have a computer of their own.

  • 52% reported that there was no computer in their household.

Recipients are assigned identification numbers that will allow baseline responses to be matched with six-month follow-up surveys, helping LF evaluate how access to a computer affects students over time.

The Difference a Chromebook Makes

Two parents and a community partner share how having a computer of their own opens new opportunities for students.

“This is a godsend. We’re really blessed and thankful because I could have never done this on my own.”  – Donna, mother of Devices4All® Chromebook recipient Jalyssa, The Gateway Family YMCA, Elizabeth, NJ

“It might be something they’ve never had before. They’ll be able to do research, projects, and essays — and take ownership of it. We’re also working on programs and apps that amplify literacy skills, because that’s something we dearly need here.”  – Carl Acevedo, Project Learn Program Director, Boys & Girls Club of Poughkeepsie, NY

“This is the first computer I’ve ever owned, and it means someone out there cares about me! It’s hard to connect and do real work from my phone, so this will help with my schooling and connect me with a good job in the future!” – Devices4All® Chromebook recipient Darrius Butler, KTECH Student, Birmingham, AL
